Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at The John Stewart Company. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance duties to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and Work Order Management: Schedule and respond to work orders in a timely manner, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and reduce downtime.
  • Cosmetic and Routine Maintenance: Perform cosmetic and routine maintenance tasks throughout the community, including unit turnovers and preparations for new move-ins.
  • Inspections and Quality Control: Conduct move-in and move-out inspections, as well as quarterly inspections with PM, to ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting: Perform plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and masonry repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate and schedule vendor work as necessary with the Property Manager.
  • Emergency Response: Be on-call for off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
Requirements
  • Reliability and Availability: Must be able to function in an on-call capacity and have reliable transportation.
  • Technical Skills: Basic mathematical and computer skills, with fluency in English. Bilingual a plus.
  • Time Management: Very good use of time management skills.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience performing maintenance tasks in an apartment development or comparable position.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of REAC and other regulatory inspections a plus.
