Position: Evening Brewer

Jack's Abby Brewing is on the lookout for a dedicated brewer to enhance our production team. This role is designated for the evening shift, operating from 2 PM to 10 PM, and requires prior experience in brewing and cellaring. The evening brewer will receive training on our advanced brewing systems, including a CFT - 60 Barrel 4 vessel system and a Braukon 60 Barrel 3 vessel system, both of which are fully automated. Familiarity with additional equipment such as a CFT canning line and a GEA Westfalia GSC60 Centrifuge is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate proficiency and confidence in both brewing and cellar operations.
  • Engage effectively with various departments and personnel within the production team and across the organization.
  • Contribute to all brewery functions, including but not limited to: wort production, hop and malt handling, spent grain management, yeast harvesting, beer transfers, CIP cycles, and maintaining cleanliness and organization. Ensure all beer is crafted to meet quality assurance standards and established recipes.
  • Conduct quality control assessments throughout the brewing, fermentation, and packaging stages. Maintain accurate records for brewing, cellaring, and related activities as mandated by the department.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize equipment and materials responsibly. Uphold a clean and secure work environment consistently.
  • Possess knowledge and certification to operate forklifts and other machinery.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a brewing or cellaring role; experience with automated brewing systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software such as Orchestrated Beer or Ekos is a plus.
  • Team-oriented with a positive demeanor, capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to take initiative and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Multilingual skills (Spanish and/or Portuguese) are advantageous.
  • Understanding of the craft beer industry and appreciation for its culture.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Physical tasks include climbing stairs, accessing tanks, and handling hoses.
  • Work environment may vary from wet to hot and cold conditions, depending on the season.
  • Ability to work in consistently loud environments.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals used in the brewery.
  • Capacity to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and lift/move over 50 pounds with assistance.
