Job Summary

Mortenson's Minneapolis Operating Group is seeking a Senior MEP Project Manager to support MEPT scope management and training for multiple projects. This individual will provide overall direction and leadership on MEPT dominant projects or MEPT scopes of work on medium to large projects, managing project quality, timeliness, safety, and mentoring the project team.

Responsibilities
  1. Track upcoming and current projects, assess project risks, and coordinate with MEP Design Phase manager
  2. Meet with project managers to create plans for MEPT support and conduct training of team members
  3. Lead and manage workload autonomously, with strong customer service and time management skills
  4. Interface with Safety, Quality, VDC, Scheduling, and Estimating teams to develop standards of work related to MEPT
  5. Manage the overall financial health of projects, including budget management and financial projections
  6. Assist in the development and maintenance of project financial projections and equipment projections
  7. Consult with project leaders to determine and allocate project estimate into financial system
  8. Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions
  9. Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment
  10. Create/assist with monthly owner billings
  11. Manage, or assist in the development of, change orders through determining when to submit to the owner or on-site representative and obtaining the customer and/or architect's approval
  12. Support project team in management subcontracts and suppliers for the project
  13. Oversee budget for and make selections of subcontractors and suppliers
  14. Handle billings and contract management, including contract buyouts
  15. Oversee the 3-D coordination process to resolve all conflicts prior to installation
  16. Direct and manage the commissioning process on the project, including the start up plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing
  17. Lead all activities required in the project closeout, including operations and maintenance manuals, model turn over, and training
  18. Manage change orders through determining when to submit to the owner or on-site representative and obtaining the customer and/or architect's approval
  19. Provide high-level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance for the project and employees
  20. Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision making to assure project success
  21. Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s)
  22. Provide job assignments and manage career development
  23. Approve timecards for on-site team members
  24. Provide training
  25. Review work performance, determine rewards and/or performance management measures
  26. Serve as a point of contact with the owner and on-site representative specific to MEPT scope management
  27. Assist with the review of the owner agreement
  28. Resolve site concerns for the owner or representative
  29. Provide frequent interactions and service to build positive relationships and future work opportunities
  30. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  31. Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum eight years construction management experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
  • Current driver's license
