We are seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at Phaxis LLC, a dental office located in Astoria. The position can be temporary to permanent or permanent.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Dental Hygienist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental hygiene and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure patients feel comfortable and at ease before their examination
  • Sterilize dental instruments properly
  • Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
  • Identify conditions such as gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
  • Clean and help protect patients' teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
  • Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
  • Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
  • Take X-rays
  • Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
  • Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
  • Ensure OSHA compliance

Requirements:

  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license
  • Dental License (D.D.S. or D.M.D.)
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • A patient and friendly personality
