Job Summary:

UTHealth Houston invites applications for a full-time, tenure or non-tenure clinical track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Nurse Anesthesia. The successful candidate will be responsible for training and supervising nursing students in the specialty area of Nurse Anesthesia.

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in the development of curriculum
Attend course planning meetings
Communicate with course faculty about student assignments, requirements, and progress
Evaluate student's progress, performance and provide timely feedback in compliance with established course protocols
Identify problems and consult with course faculty to develop strategies to resolve them
Serve as a professional role model and resource for students
Promote compliance with student/university policies
Provide direct patient care activities through clinical practice opportunities with affiliated hospitals and other healthcare organizations

Requirements:

DNP or PhD
Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice recognition in Texas
A minimum of one year full-time nurse practice experience
Previous experience in leadership/management, education (clinical or didactic teaching), or clinical simulation within nurse anesthesia

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong clinical background and teaching experience
Experience with a course management system
NBCRNA certification as a CRNA
Willingness and ability to teach in advanced pharmacology and physiology courses
Recent clinical anesthesia experience in an acute care setting
Assigned active clinical anesthesia practice as faculty
Ability to function in a cohesive educational team model
Effective oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students and faculty
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
