Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Duke Dermatology Clinics.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with attending physicians to provide high-quality patient care, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services to general dermatology patients.

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet the needs of the patients. The position will require working at up to two different clinic sites in the Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill area.

Responsibilities
  • Treat patients in Duke Dermatology Clinics to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and realistic outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness and cost efficiency of patient care.
  • Analyze clinical practice patterns to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
  • Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients' condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.
Requirements

Education:

  • Nurse Practitioners: Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

Certification:

  • BLS required.
  • Nurse Practitioners: National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
  • Physician Assistants: Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of APP experience in an academic dermatology clinic required.
