Position Overview

Join a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of our diverse communities. As an Echocardiography Specialist, you will play a vital role in the NC Heart & Vascular department.

This position involves performing echocardiograms and stress tests on a per diem basis, providing flexibility across various clinics as needed. Standard clinic hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend, evening, or holiday shifts required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct echocardiograms that meet high diagnostic standards, generating ultrasound images of the heart and associated structures using advanced techniques such as 2D, M-Mode, Doppler, and Strain.
2. Administer ultrasound enhancing agents competently.
3. Deliver comprehensive pre- and post-procedure patient care, including assessments and emergency cardiac support.
4. Timely completion of structured reports for all examinations.
5. Collaborate with healthcare providers regarding echocardiogram results.
6. Maintain accurate patient records and manage report storage and data systems efficiently.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:
High School Diploma or GED required.
An Associate degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field is preferred within three months of hire, or completion of a twelve-month ultrasound program within the same timeframe.

Licensure/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification must be obtained within one year of hire, with ongoing maintenance of registry status and continuing education.

Experience:
No prior experience is required.

Skills and Abilities:
Proficient operation of sonographic equipment.
Ability to assess echocardiograms for accurate diagnostic information.
Flexibility to adjust workload based on patient needs.
Independent judgment in acquiring optimal echocardiogram data.
Adherence to established departmental protocols.
Capacity to work efficiently in emergency situations.
Strong communication skills and sensitivity to patient requirements.
