Job Title: CDL Sweeper Truck Driver

Job Summary:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver is responsible for operating a commercial heavy truck on public highways and construction job sites in a safe and efficient manner. The driver will transport aggregates, sand, concrete, hot-mix asphalt, and other construction materials to active work zones. The driver must also complete pre-trip checks, assist with fluid checks and maintenance, securing loads, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the Foreman or Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend work regularly and be punctual.
  • Perform daily maintenance and pre-trip checks on the truck.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations.
  • Meet delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Operate the truck in a safe and efficient manner according to company policy and FMCA guidelines.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 21 years of age minimum.
  • Valid CDL with good driving record and no major violations.
  • Able to pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical.
  • Trained to operate tractor-trailer.
  • Knowledge of various construction equipment.
  • Good customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable, and well-organized.
  • Able to use cell phone, cell phone apps, and CB radio.
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must read and speak English.
  • Complies with all applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedures.

Work Environment:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes. The driver will be required to work outdoors and may be required to work in a variety of locations, including job sites, offices, and other company facilities.

Equipment Used:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will use a company-provided commercial truck and may be required to use other equipment, such as cell phones and CB radios.

Physical Demands:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds and climb in and around assigned trucks. The driver must also be able to work in a variety of physical environments, including extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Decision Making:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will be responsible for making decisions related to the safe and efficient operation of the truck, including decisions related to route planning, load management, and maintenance.

Financial Responsibilities:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will be responsible for managing company equipment and resources, including fuel cards and other company-provided equipment.

Communication:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will be required to communicate effectively with other drivers, coworkers, dispatch, supervisors, management, administration, external and internal customers, and other stakeholders.

Result of Action:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will be responsible for ensuring that all work is performed accurately and thoroughly, and that all company policies and procedures are followed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver will work independently with direction from senior employees, supervisors, or managers.

Certificates/Licenses:

The CDL Sweeper Truck Driver must hold a valid Medical Card and a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
