This is a dynamic opportunity to join the Indiana Department of Transportation team as a Facilities Maintenance Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of our transportation infrastructure, including highways, bridges, and other facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Comply with all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate and maintain various types of equipment, including heavy machinery and specialized tools.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the integrity of our infrastructure.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or natural disasters, to ensure the safety of our employees and the public.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
- General knowledge of federal, state, and local highway guidelines, laws, and regulations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical documents.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation or maintenance.
- Knowledge of herbicide application and maintenance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Core Herbicide and Class 6 Herbicide license.
