POSITION SUMMARY:
The Evaporator Production Specialist is responsible for the safe operation of various machinery and equipment utilized in the production process. This role encompasses support for upstream processing as well as involvement in projects that include monitoring processes and conducting routine sample analyses. The specialist ensures that production aligns with established daily and weekly schedules. Responsibilities include setting up, overseeing, and maintaining production line machinery and equipment. This position requires extended periods of standing (8-12 hours) with a strong emphasis on monitoring process variables. Troubleshooting issues promptly is essential to maintain seamless operations.
Regular tasks include sampling, labeling, and testing products every 30-60 minutes, along with maintaining the evaporator and adhering to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
The role may involve periodic inspections of evaporators, which requires climbing ladders and navigating confined spaces. This includes obtaining Confined Space permits and demonstrating proficiency in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures for all equipment. The position operates within a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to chemicals and fluctuating temperatures. The schedule is primarily First Shift from 6 am to 6 pm, with the potential for overtime, off-shift work, and weekend duties as necessary.SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, & COMPETENCIES:
Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively within a team
Capability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation
Comprehensive understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about production equipment
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate production machinery in accordance with specifications and standards
Maintain accurate production logs and records
Assist supervisors in ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) standards
Adhere to safety protocols and ensure departmental compliance with all safety regulations
Conduct microbial analyses in accordance with batch records utilizing good sterile techniques
Continuously monitor equipment and process control systems to ensure operational parameters are maintained within specified ranges
Perform minor mechanical and instrumentation troubleshooting; take appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
Complete daily batch records and input fermentation data into databases
Consult with supervisors, Quality Control, or Research & Development for guidance during unplanned deviations; follow instructions accordingly
Execute basic laboratory procedures ensuring accuracy and validity of results. Assist with general laboratory tasks including preparation of solvents, buffers, resins, reagent solutions, and media; measuring and dispensing solid and liquid chemicals and raw materials
Conduct cleaning and sterilization of equipment, instruments, materials, and processing areas
Implement various projects developed by Research & Development
Perform housekeeping tasks as assigned per GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least one year of relevant experience required
Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions with general guidance and supervision
Working knowledge and skills to understand, interpret, and assess FDA, Food and Plant Safety, product, process, and quality-related requirements, ensuring adherence to all HACCP protocols, GMPs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Relevant knowledge of equipment, processes, and production capabilities
Experience with ERP / MES / MRP / Shop Manufacturing Systems is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 to 60 pounds repetitively
