Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing a variety of projects, ranging from small to large scale, which includes research, intricate boundary calculations, and construction assessments. The Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) will collaborate closely with the Principal Land Surveyor to fulfill daily responsibilities. Building and sustaining professional relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies is crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct PLS duties on various survey types including Plats, BLA's, ALTA/NSPS surveys, as-builts, and shoreline boundaries.
  • Ensure the precision of survey data through thorough measurements and calculations at survey sites.
  • Compute elevations, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other terrain characteristics.
  • Investigate legal documents, survey records, and land titles to gather information on property boundaries.
  • Create and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions to document and certify survey work.
  • Lead or perform surveys to define legal property boundaries based on legal deeds and titles.
  • Draft descriptions of property boundary surveys for inclusion in legal documents such as deeds and leases.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a Washington State PLS and LSIT with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to comprehend necessary tasks to complete survey assignments in a PLS capacity.
  • Capable of preparing construction calculations under the guidance of the Principal PLS.
  • Familiarity with GPS technology and accuracy standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with Engineering and Planning departments for project success.
  • Position typically requires a standard forty-hour work week with potential for overtime or weekend work.
  • Valid Washington Driver's License is required.
  • Fieldwork may be a component of this role.
  • Strong proficiency in drafting and interpreting legal descriptions is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field crews regarding project requirements and staking.
  • Proficient in time management, budget tracking, and conducting fieldwork related to construction and boundary surveys.
  • Successful candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and must maintain a clean driving record.
