About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Support Specialist II to join our team at Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs, Inc.

Job Summary and Purpose

The successful candidate will provide essential support services to our beneficiaries participating in treatment while ensuring the safety and security of our program premises. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • AOD Counseling Functions:
    • Collaborate with certified AOD counselors and case managers to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for clients.
    • Conduct thorough screenings, assessments, and intakes to ensure accurate client data.
    • Collect and store specimens from clients for drug and alcohol screening, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Program Security and Safety:
    • Maintain vigilant presence on the premises, monitoring entrance and exit points, and reporting any suspicious activity or breaches to supervisors.
    • Search participants' belongings upon entry, ensuring no contraband or substance use items are brought into the program.
    • Report and correct any spills, unsafe conditions, or equipment malfunctions to maintain a safe environment.
  • Asset Protection and Client Support:
    • Act as a role model for participants, demonstrating professionalism and compassion at all times.
    • Monitor doors, answer phones, take messages, and maintain office housekeeping, ensuring common areas remain clean and disinfected.
    • Document client self-administration of medication, complete required Electronic Health Records (EHR), and input data into computer systems.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Holds a high school diploma or GED and is currently registered and in good standing in an Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification program.
  • Possesses at least 1 year of experience in mental health or substance abuse treatment.
  • Is able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment, and education verifications.
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • A degree in a related field or higher education credits.
  • Completion of modules 1 and 2 of ASAM.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
  • An understanding of harm reduction approaches and willingness to work with diverse populations, including those with mental health, LGBTQ, and HIV/AIDS concerns.
Estimated Salary Range: $20.52-$21.60 per hourAbout Us
