Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Solar Electrician Lead to join our team. As a Solar Electrician Lead, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining battery storage systems and EV chargers according to engineering designs, permits, and electrical code. You will also complete site assessments, document necessary information, and submit service reports. Additionally, you will collaborate with manufacturers and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and provide training to customers on system operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain battery storage systems and EV chargers according to engineering designs, permits, and electrical code.
  • Complete site assessments, documenting all necessary information to prepare for an installation.
  • Submit service reports immediately following work order completion.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturers and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Utilize knowledge, skills, and electrical testing equipment to commission systems and evaluate system issues.
  • Identify solutions to resolve technical design problems, including electrical systems used during construction.
  • Manage vehicle-material stock and equipment inventory.
  • Maintain compliance with all Sunnova Safety policies and practices.
  • Provide training to customers about system operation and maintenance.
  • Manage and resolve customer concerns and issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and document progress to customers and relevant Sunnova employees.
  • Document key communications in appropriate Sunnova software.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma (or GED)
  • 1+ years' experience as an electrician, solar installer, or solar maintenance technician
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician
  • Current, valid Driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
  • Working knowledge of the NEC
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Formal apprenticeship and/or vocational training
  • 1+ years' experience in the solar electric industry preferred.
  • 3+ years' electrical experience
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish
Working Conditions
  • Location varies with job site
  • Estimated up to 35% overnight travel required
  • Driving required; needs valid Driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Must be willing to travel for some projects depending on jobsite
Physical Requirements
  • Long hours spent outside on residential rooftops, driving to customer residences, some ground and rooftop work.
  • Varying weather conditions, including cold and snowy, hot and humid, and everything in between; must be comfortable working in different environments.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; assistance may be provided for oversized items.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Work postures include reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, and handling objects above/below the shoulder.
