Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operations Director to lead our feed mill operations at Kalmbach Feeds Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and managing all plant operations, ensuring the safe, cost-effective, and efficient production of feed products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Direct and manage daily plant operations to exceed customer expectations, ensuring optimal production, quality, and safety standards.
  • Production Planning: Develop and control production plans and budgets, working closely with the operations manager to ensure timely and cost-effective manufacturing objectives.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure proper inventory of ingredients for plant use, monitor cost metrics, and establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Team Management: Manage the performance of hourly and salaried operations personnel, provide leadership and training to staff, and develop compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Facilities and Equipment Management: Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment, replace or make adjustments as necessary, with capital approval from management.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure the safe and efficient production of feed products, implement cost-effective systems of control over operating expenditures, and maintain existing plant facilities and equipment.
  • Compliance and Certification: Ensure audit readiness and provide leadership for FSMA and HAACP certification, applying the training provided on the principles of animal food hygiene and safety relative to the company's Food Safety Plan.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of manufacturing management experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to multi-task, work with multiple projects and tasks, extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, experience working independently and in a team-oriented environment, ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, knack for solving complex problems, and ability to work and communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license in good standing.
