Role Summary:
As part of a collaborative team comprising technicians, inspectors, and engineers, the Quality Technician I will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality standards of mechanical and electro-mechanical components. This position involves hands-on inspection, programming of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) directly from CAD files, managing material disposition, and engaging with suppliers. Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is essential for success in this role, alongside the ongoing enhancement of a top-tier quality management system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of parts and assemblies utilizing benchtop metrology techniques.
- Verify high-risk materials from new suppliers, first-time deliveries, engineering change reworks, or materials with uncertain reliability and quality.
- Utilize hand gauging methods for mechanical verification, including visual assessments of mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical components using established techniques.
- Learn to create CMM programs directly from CAD to validate materials and components.
- Engage in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, ensuring the verification and disposition of nonconforming materials to maintain part integrity.
- Collect, input, and analyze quality-related data using spreadsheets and databases.
- Participate in data analysis and contribute to effective cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.
- Apply ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles in interpreting print specifications.
- May utilize electrical testing equipment to assess the quality of electrical and electro-mechanical materials.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with 0-1 years of relevant experience is required.
- An Associate's Degree in a related technical field is preferred.
- Experience with PC-DMIS programming and CMM operation is advantageous, along with a strong willingness to learn through training.
- Familiarity with CAD geometry is beneficial.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.
- Effective communication skills in a cross-functional environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent use of a computer is necessary.
- Ability to occasionally lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Occasional travel to customer or supplier locations or technical conferences may be required.
