Job Summary

The City of Hampton, VA is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Deputy II Clerk. As a key member of the Hampton Circuit Court Clerk's office, this position requires the ability to perform complex records management work, administer oaths, and conduct routine transactions on behalf of or in lieu of the Clerk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex records management work, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and files.
  • Administer oaths and conduct routine transactions on behalf of or in lieu of the Clerk.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain harmonious relationships with diverse populations, including court staff, attorneys, and the general public.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years front-facing, customer service-related experience, preferably in a clerk's office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with challenging and changing deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
