Diesel Mechanic Technician Class A Job Description

Job Title: Heavy Duty Diesel Engineer
Salary: $33.00 per hour depending on experience, including a $10,000 Sign On Bonus (terms apply)

About the Role

This challenging and rewarding role involves working as a Heavy Duty Diesel Engineer for Performance Foodservice. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing medium to heavy-duty diesel equipment in our fleet.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical diagnostics and repair, with experience in overhauling and rebuilding heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Use hand tools and power tools as required.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Diagnose complex mechanical issues using computerized diagnostics and electronic component repair skills.
  • Equipment Inspection: Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  • Fleet Management: Ensure that all company fleet diesel equipment is safe and compliant with regulations.
  • Training and Guidance: Train and provide guidance to junior mechanics on best practices and safety procedures.
Requirements:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Engineer who has the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 5-7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in refrigeration and/or overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions
