**Position Overview:**

Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the Phlebotomy Specialist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the Deborah Heart and Lung Center and the Department of Pathology.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform venipuncture and related procedures with precision and accuracy.
  • Collect and process blood samples for laboratory testing.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient sample handling and processing.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

**Requirements:**

  • 6 months to 1 year of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric venipuncture and micro-collection.
  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Phlebotomy, Nursing, or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Excellent customer relations skills, math, verbal, and written skills at a high school level.

**Work Environment:**

Regular internal and/or external contacts involving considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain.

Periodically take lead responsibilities on a rotating basis.

Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor or designee.

Bi-Weekly Hours: 80

Work Schedule: 9p to 7a (weekdays) OR 4p-4a & alternating weekends 5p to 5:30a (Saturday and Sunday)
