Welder/Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our team at Drake Williams Steel. As a key member of our structural fabrication department, you will be responsible for welding and fitting steel parts to create high-quality assemblies.

• Weld steel parts for structural, plate, and miscellaneous steel assemblies according to shop drawings and quality requirements.
• Identify steel shapes, sizes, and mill tolerances to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Operate various tools and equipment, including forklifts, jib cranes, and overhead cranes, to move materials and complete tasks.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient and safe work processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the team's goals.

• Minimum of six months of experience working as a welder for a steel fabricator or manufacturer.
• One-year degree or certificate in welding technology from a qualified trade school or college.
• Ability to read, write, and perform higher arithmetic computations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

This role requires working in a shop environment with exposure to heat, cold, wet, and humid conditions. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
