Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

University of the Pacific is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, securing, maintaining, and installing networking, telecommunications, and computer systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, design, acquire, oversee installation, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the University's data and voice infrastructure.
  • Manage network performance by periodically baselining capacity and performance and projecting resource usage.
  • Develop and monitor network project plans to implement network infrastructure and coordinate resources to ensure successful implementation.
  • Provide detailed technical analysis for projects requiring network and telecommunications connectivity, including security, telecommunications, and wireless.
  • Establish and maintain positive vendor relations to ensure adequate technical support and timely problem resolution.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma and 60+ credit hours of continuing education.
  • Eight (8) years of directly applicable networking/telecommunications experience.
  • Cisco CCNP or higher.
  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • One (1) industry-recognized Security Certification preferred.

Duties require extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand and wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional walking, standing, and simple grasping. Primarily office setting, AV closets, and/or data center with exposure to noise and cooler temperatures.

Travel may be required to other campuses, meetings, or training.

Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business.
