Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Mon Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct and indirect total nursing care to patients, utilizing nursing processes and collaborating with other healthcare providers.
  • Promote and provide education to patients, families, peers, and the community about illness and medication when appropriate.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional manner, ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Use nursing processes throughout the patient's stay to meet physical and psychosocial needs, participating in ethical issues and concerns.
  • Accurately assess patients' physical and emotional needs, providing appropriate interventions and anticipating and acting to maintain a safe environment.
  • Deal effectively with expressions of anger and hostility from others.
  • Interview and assess patients and/or families to obtain required information, using professional judgment to determine a plan of patient care.
  • Observe symptoms and patients' physical and emotional reactions to procedures or treatment, reviewing and updating the plan of care daily.
  • Maintain a complete and concise record of hospital stay, charting accurately and legibly, and reflecting a plan of care and nursing process.
  • Document patient assessments, history, treatment, and response, as well as condition at time of discharge or transfer.
  • Develop a comprehensive discharge plan and set goals for discharge on an individual basis.
  • Safely perform venipuncture and administer medication by all routes, performing nursing procedures safely and efficiently.
  • In emergency situations, make accurate assessments and decisions, ensuring prompt and appropriate intervention.
  • Identify subtle changes and abnormal vital signs via frequent patient reassessment, documenting, reporting, and implementing interventions.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and adhere to Department's and Hospital Infection Control policies.
  • Ensure that physician orders are implemented promptly and accurately.
  • Apply professional judgment in facilitating group consensus and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume, staff, and scheduling needs, working collaboratively with co-workers to provide self-scheduling that reflects fairness and appropriate unit coverage.
  • Exhibit dependability as evidenced by reliable attendance in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Attend department staff meetings and assigned committee forums, participating in mandatory and recommended service training.
  • Follow all policy relative to maintenance of privacy, safety protocols, complaint resolution, respectful workplace, etc.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved program of practical nursing.
  • Current West Virginia State Nursing license is required.
  • Must possess CPR certification.
  • BLS Certification within the orientation period.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One-year experience in an urgent care clinic, emergency department, or medical office setting.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Authorizations and referral experience is required.
  • Patient scheduling knowledge is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general theory and practice.
  • Experience using EHR and medical equipment used in ER.
Skills:
  • Ability to work and deal effectively with others.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and adapt to each provider.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
