Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a crucial role in our pediatric urgent care environment, ensuring that we meet the healthcare needs of our young patients. This position allows for the application of nursing skills in a dynamic setting, under the direct supervision of a physician, while fostering positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and administrative assistance to healthcare providers and support office operations.
  • Gather patient medical histories, record vital signs, and prioritize care based on individual needs.
  • Perform medical procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, and medication administration, while assisting physicians in comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of pediatric pharmacology to ensure safe medication practices.
  • Actively participate in the patient care team, contributing to the overall care process.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks within the office and assist in laboratory testing as required.
  • Support physicians during patient examinations and ensure comfort during procedures.
  • Ensure exam rooms are well-stocked with necessary medical supplies and maintain proper sterilization of instruments.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and respond effectively to emergencies, alerting physicians as necessary.
  • Build strong rapport with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Follow established policies and procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to team goals by achieving related outcomes.
  • Uphold a safe and healthy work environment by complying with legal regulations and organizational standards.
  • Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in continuous education to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate ownership and initiative in tackling new challenges and improving care practices.
  • Assist in resolving patient concerns and enhancing service recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with physicians to optimize urgent care processes and improve patient flow metrics.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in pediatrics is essential; prior work in Pediatric ER, hospital units, or urgent care settings is preferred.
  • Possession of an active nursing license in your state or compact state licensure.
  • Demonstrated competency in nursing procedures, including IV placement and medication administration.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is recommended.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, clinic operations, and equipment.
  • Ability to quickly assess pediatric patients in critical situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal.

Compensation:
$28 - $36/hour

This salary range is provided to comply with local regulations and reflects potential compensation for this role, which may vary based on experience and location.
