Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Therapist to join our team at Freedom House Recovery Center. As a key member of our behavioral health care team, you will provide person-centered, comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults, and families managing behavioral health disorders or addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessments, Person Centered Planning, authorization for services, and immediate interventions to ensure the provision of services needed by individuals in the most appropriate environment of their choice.
  • Conduct screening, interviews, and assessments in a professional and engaging manner, including the required information, organizing it for key personnel to suggest the level of care for each client assigned, and clearly presenting the information to the treatment team.
  • Develop and implement Person Centered Plans/treatment plans by preparing the initial diagnosis, describing strengths, preferences, and needs, and identifying treatment goals and strategies for each client assigned.
  • Establish a therapeutic counseling relationship with each client assigned, facilitate individual, group, and family counseling, and provide case support by identifying additional services needed for client care, coordinating and collaborating with relevant services.
  • Respond to client needs to ensure their safety, integrate crisis experience into the treatment process for each client assigned, and provide client education by conducting alcohol and other drug education classes and HIV/AIDS classes as assigned.
  • Document progress notes for clients assigned within one working day of service, comply with information guidelines and signature requirements, maintain chart organization, and file in a timely manner.
  • Pursue staff development opportunities to meet privileging and credentialing requirements, expand skills, and to obtain licensure or certification within 3 years of date of hire or to maintain certification or licensure.
  • Regularly attend division team meetings and provide appropriate and relevant information regarding client care to the treatment team.
Requirements
  • A graduate of a college or university accredited by the Association of Colleges and Schools with a master's degree in a human service field with at least one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated MH/DD/Sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional with at least one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a human services field with at least two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/Sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a field other than human services with four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/Sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional with four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
  • Hold a license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in MH/DD/Sa with the population served.
