Job Summary

The School District of Philadelphia is dedicated to providing high-quality educational and psychological services to all students. As a School Psychologist, you will play a crucial role in identifying and supporting students with exceptional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students' cognitive, academic, and social-emotional development to identify exceptional student needs.
  • Administer psychological and educational tests to assess learning and behavioral differences in individual students.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team processes to develop individual educational programs and provide consultative services to teachers, students, and parents.
  • Assist in the development of individual educational programs, including placement, service, and referral recommendations.
  • Prepare and maintain case history records on individual students.
SpecialtiesGeneral/Sign Language
  • Provide pre-intervention consulting services to regular education instructional staff.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of informal intervention techniques.
  • Serve as a resource person to special education teachers and other professional/paraprofessional staff members.
Gifted
  • Assist in the development of individual educational programs for gifted students.
  • Provide pre-evaluation consulting services to regular education instructional staff.
  • Document information and reports in the EasyIEP - Gifted Process module.
Requirements
  • Master's degree program from an accredited college or university.
  • Successful completion of a school psychologist internship in the duration of Master's program.
Preferred Requirements
  • One to four years of professional experience working in the field of child psychology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent psychology, related behavioral sciences, and psychological techniques employed in the modification of human behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer psychological and educational tests, provide consultative services, prepare clear and concise reports, and communicate effectively.
