Job Summary:

UPMC is seeking a skilled Ophthalmology POD Coordinator to support the UPMC Vision Institute – Mercy. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday, daylight hours, with varying shift start times based on clinic schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staff, schedules, and troubleshooting to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Partner with providers to develop workflow plans and address issues.
  • Communicate effectively with techs and imagers to schedule patients within the assigned pod.
  • Lead daily huddles with doctors and clinical staff to ensure a no-wait workflow.
  • Authorize providers to adjust schedules and escalate non-compliance to management.
  • Communicate delays to patients and address bottlenecks.
  • Cross-train staff for ophthalmic workup and testing.
  • Ensure imaging equipment is utilized, inspected, and updated according to regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of ophthalmic experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or coordinating experience, or 1 year as a Lead Coordinator.
  • JCAHPO certification (any level/min COA).
  • Valid CPR certification.
