POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse in the PACU is responsible for independently planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in various patient care scenarios, adhering to established standards and protocols. This role involves delivering direct nursing care, assuming educational and leadership responsibilities, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document patient care information accurately in electronic or paper records.
- Conduct comprehensive admission assessments and provide appropriate interventions.
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to deliver effective patient care.
- Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses.
- Coordinate patient and family education tailored to individual needs.
- Evaluate care outcomes to ensure patient needs are met.
- Maintain thorough and legible documentation.
- Provide constructive feedback and engage in problem-solving through established channels.
- Adhere to hospital standards and maintain professional development.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families throughout the care continuum.
- Assist in various peri-anesthesia settings as required.
- Uphold confidentiality and comply with legal requirements regarding patient information.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Florida.
- Relevant experience as specified in departmental postings.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized provider.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- For Pre-Op: Minimum of 1 year acute care RN experience.
- For PACU: 1-2 years of critical care RN experience required.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is mandatory.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required for specific campuses within 90 days of hire.
