The Medical University of South Carolina offers an exciting opportunity for a Certified Surgical Tech I to join our team in the operating room setting. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Job Description Overview

This position is responsible for preparing sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures, performing appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care, and functioning autonomously as a member of the operating room team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well under pressure, maintain a high level of concentration, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and manage sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized operating room environment
  • Provide exceptional patient care and support throughout the surgical process
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or military program
  • Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
  • Two years experience within the operating room setting preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 2 weeks of hire
