We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team at Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Hopewell. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and nutrition of our residents by assisting with food preparation services while upholding strict sanitation and safe handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Serve meals that are timely, palatable, and appetizing in appearance, in accordance with established portion control procedures and therapeutic diets.
- Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, including work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, sweeping/mopping floors, carrying soiled utensils/dishes to work areas, washing and cleaning utensils, emptying trash containers into dumpsters, cleaning cans, and replacing trash can liners.
- Keep work areas dry and free of hazards and sanitize dining room tables and chairs.
- Operate the dish machine using proper sanitizing and safety techniques, racking, rinsing, and feeding dishes into the machine.
- Wash pots and pans according to facility policies and procedures.
- Place groceries, meats, and supply items in appropriate storage areas as directed.
- Transfer food trucks from the dietary department to assigned areas in a safe and timely manner.
- Follow all safety regulations, infection control/universal precautions, food safety regulations, and facility policies and procedures.
- Utilize and maintain all equipment appropriately, including the dish machine, coffee urn, refrigerators, mixers, blender, and toaster.
- Report all hazardous conditions/equipment and accident/incidents to the shift supervisor.
- Prepare and portion food items such as desserts, salads, juices, coffee, and nourishments.
- Assist in inventory and proper storing of foods, supplies, etc. as directed.
- Accurately take and record temperatures of food, beverages, and equipment as directed by the Food Service Director, Assistant Food Service Director, and/or Dietary Supervisor every meal.
- Provide cleaning and busing of tables in dining rooms as instructed, in a courteous manner.
- Maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
- Follow all established policies and procedures.
- Follow universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques.
- Maintain Corporate Compliance standards.
- Contribute to facility Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Follow safety procedures by keeping areas free of hazardous conditions.
- Economical and careful with supplies and equipment.
- Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
- Comes to work in neat, clean attire and consistently presents an appropriate professional appearance.
- This individual continuously exhibits and fosters a spirit of teamwork, positive attitude, and conflict resolution among co-workers.
- Reports perceived problems to supervisor. Contributes ideas to rectify identified problems and follows corrective actions as directed by the supervisor.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum - some food service experience required
- Previous dietary experience preferred
- High degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene required; health status suitable for food service required
- Ability to read and understand work assignments, as well as report verbally and provide written documentation as necessary
- Respect for residents' privacy and rights; display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly
- Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness
- Qualities of responsibility, diplomacy, and ability to work well with fellow staff members
