Job Overview

Rib Mountain Glass is seeking a skilled Glass Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for accurately assessing the costs and materials required for commercial glass projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to understand the scope and requirements of the glass installation or replacement project.
  • Calculate the quantities of glass, framing, sealants, and other materials needed based on project specifications.
  • Utilize estimating software and historical data to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Conduct site visits to assess site conditions, measurements, and any potential challenges that could impact the project.
  • Develop detailed bid proposals outlining the scope of work, pricing, project schedule, and terms and conditions.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and address any issues or changes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide project updates, and address any concerns throughout the estimation process.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Keep detailed records of estimates, bids, contracts, change orders, and correspondence related to each project.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a glass estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry is often required, with knowledge of glass products, glazing techniques, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret technical drawings and to make accurate estimates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal team members.
