The Hematologist/Oncologist at the US Veterans Health Administration will primarily engage in direct patient care, dedicating a significant portion of time to evaluating and managing patients with hematological and oncological conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including detailed history-taking, physical examinations, and thorough review of medical records to develop diagnostic and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient management, including the potential for transitioning patients back to their primary care providers when appropriate.
- Supervise and mentor nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical students as necessary.
- Oversee the operations of the chemotherapy unit, ensuring high standards of care and safety.
- Participate in hospital committees, staff meetings, and peer review processes to contribute to the overall quality of care.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary with annual performance bonuses and regular salary increments.

Qualifications:

- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited hematology and oncology program.
- Board certification in Hematology and Oncology is preferred.
Additional Information:
- Participation in vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19 is mandatory for all healthcare personnel.
- All candidates must meet the training and credentialing requirements as per the policies of the US Veterans Health Administration.
