Youth Treatment Specialist

Under the supervision of the Team Leaders, the Call-In Treatment Specialist performs responsibilities consistent with safety, and security measures, policies and procedures, and daily operations of the program.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate family relationships and practice/model core program therapeutic aspects.
- Maintain facility security by closely monitoring residents and performing searches and building security checks as needed.
- Document incidents and administer medications according to physician orders.
- Provide basic first aid as necessary, assess injuries and illnesses, and determine need for medical care in accordance with program guidelines.
- Coordinate and assist residents with daily activities, including community service and exercise outings.
- Support residents with school and group work, and teach basic life skills such as hygiene, laundry, cleaning, and cooking.
- Process resident intake, document all required resident personal information, and conduct personal searches of residents.
- Orient new residents and parents to the facility, explaining the philosophy, policies, procedures, and program rules.
- Schedule and supervise approved recreational, exercise, and work activities for residents.
- Support and encourage residents to timely complete school assignments and provide basic tutoring services.
- Attend regular team meetings and present information and recommendations for treatment plans.
- Discharge residents, return personal belongings to residents, document required discharge information, and prepare closing reports.
- Two years of college (30 semester hours) towards a social science or human services related degree is required.
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent with two years of work experience in a child/adolescent care facility or closely related setting can be accepted as well.
- Bachelor's degree in a social science or human services field is preferred.
- Three months of casework experience in a court, social work, child caring institution, or closely related setting is required.
- Current unencumbered Michigan Driver's License with no more than one traffic violation in the last 12 months is required.
