Master Welder

Join the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) team as a Master Welder, responsible for performing inspection, servicing, and maintenance on structural components of vehicles, shop equipment, and steel water mains.
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect structural components to locate trouble and determine needed repairs
- Install pipe and valve restraints and pipe supports
- Perform welding, grinding, and cutting procedures under the direction of the Sr. WDS Foreman, WDS General Foreman, and/or Sr. Program Manager, Pipelines
- Repair MWRA steel water mains, tanks, and hatches
- Keep inventory of welding and cutting stock, including structural steel members, and recommend needed supplies
- Keep and update records of work performed
- A high school diploma or GED
- One (1) year certificate from college or technical school
- Three (3) to six (6) years experience in welding, grinding, and cutting in an automotive and heavy equipment area
The work environment is typically loud in field settings and moderately quiet in an office setting. The employee will occasionally work in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and risk of electrical shock.
