Job Summary

St. Edwards Child Development Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Toddler Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of our young students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational curriculum that aligns with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example and encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group activities to actively engage children and promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of the children assigned to your care.
  • Develop the classroom environment, curriculum, and activities with child-specific goals.
  • Implement strategies to guide positive behaviors with ongoing interaction and play.
  • Complete observations and assessments of children.
  • Conduct parent conferences twice a year.
  • Meet yearly continuing education requirements.
  • Attend all staff meetings and center-wide family events.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A passion for working with children.
  • Reliable daily transportation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full state background check and fingerprint check.
  • Must pass health screening.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat, crawl, and lift children up to 40lbs.
  • A specific vision ability will be required, including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Have
  • Associates Degree in Early Childcare Education preferred (will consider applicants with their ECE teacher certifications through the State of Wisconsin or CDA).
