About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Theracare Pediatric Services. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing individualized education plans and innovative teaching methods to our kindergarten to second-grade students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans: Create and implement tailored learning plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with Parents and Therapists: Work closely with parents and therapists to integrate and support students, ensuring a collaborative approach to education.
  • Provide Direct Instruction: Deliver instruction to students in small group or individual settings, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and techniques.
  • Monitor and Assess Student Progress: Regularly monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction to ensure academic growth and development.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain up-to-date records on student performance and progress.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for support.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and dyslexic reading support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education: Possess a degree in special education or a related field.
  • State Certification in Special Education: Hold state certification in special education.
  • Experience Working with Kindergarten to Second-Grade Students: Have experience working with kindergarten to second-grade students.
  • Strong Understanding of Disabilities: Possess a strong understanding of various disabilities and their educational implications.
  • Experience Collaborating with Support Staff: Have experience collaborating with support staff, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other related service providers.
  • Knowledge of Dyslexic Reading Support: Possess knowledge of or experience with dyslexic reading support and interventions.
  • Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to Create a Positive Learning Environment: Possess the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
