St. Croix Health is seeking a dedicated full-time Pharmacy Technician specializing in IV services. This role involves working Monday through Friday during the day shift, with additional responsibilities during weekends and holidays.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Pharmacy Technician will support the Pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, ensuring proper inventory management and record-keeping. The role operates under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
1. IV Compounding Duties:- Execute IV admixture while adhering to aseptic techniques and 797 standards.
- Restock IV supplies and prepare IV packs for various applications, including chemotherapy.
- Calculate charges for dispensed medications and enter data accurately into the system.
- Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to designated areas within the facility.
- Transfer medications from vials to sterile syringes using appropriate techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of work areas as required.
- Prepare pharmaceutical mixtures according to established protocols.
- Receive and verify medication deliveries, ensuring accurate distribution within the pharmacy.
- Oversee medication stock levels outside the pharmacy, addressing shortages and managing automated dispensing units.
- Maintain an efficient inventory of medications to meet daily operational needs while minimizing waste.
- Document expired inventory and ensure proper storage conditions for all medications.
- Order, label, and maintain accurate counts of medications and supplies, updating inventory records as necessary.
- Assist customers with basic inquiries and direct them to the pharmacist for detailed medication information.
- Handle telephone inquiries professionally.
- Support medication billing inquiries and participate in pharmacy audits.
Education & Licensure:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required within the first year of employment.
- Must possess a valid registration in Wisconsin to practice in a pharmacy at the time of hire.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
- Experience with IV admixture and automated dispensing systems is advantageous.
