Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our Emergency Department team. As a Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document patient information and procedures, and communicate effectively with licensed clinicians.
  • Prepare and administer medications under the direction of a licensed clinician, and assist with bedside procedures as needed.
  • Provide assistance in emergencies, and notify department RN or physician immediately of changes in patient condition.
  • Support and reinforce RN/RT/physician and patient/family teaching, and evaluate learning as appropriate.
  • Process daily patient charges and related procedures through the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with physicians to support communications required to facilitate patient care, and coordinate and facilitate all forms of communications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following department safety policies and standard precautions.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, and troubleshoot minor problems.
  • Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Requirements
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Emergency Medical Services.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in a paramedic role or appropriate related clinical experience.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities, and a high level of attention to detail.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, squat, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance, and push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present, and will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids hazards on a continuous basis, and must wear protective clothing as necessary.
  • Must have functional vision and hearing, and operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
