Automotive Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at The Heritage Automotive Group. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing cars and trucks in our busy Ford Service Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive work orders and perform designated servicing and/or repair jobs.
  • Locate and diagnose problems with malfunctioning vehicles; road test vehicles as appropriate.
  • Identify necessary parts; prepare parts and labor price quotes.
  • Plan and perform a wide range of mechanical or electrical repairs.
  • Perform regular service and preventive maintenance tasks on vehicles in order to keep them in safe, dependable operating condition.
  • Service new cars prior to delivery, ensuring they are in good running order and installing accessories if necessary.
  • Ensure that inspected and registered vehicles meet government standards for safe operating condition.
  • Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Maintain all required documentation of service work done.
  • Continually update product knowledge needed to work on new models.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years old with a valid driver's license.
  • Must have their own tools and 1-3 years experience; Ford Certified a plus.
  • Must foster an attitude of improvement and take pride in a job well done.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and information.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex diagnostic information.
  • Ability to prepare parts and labor quotes, and to document work performed.
