Position Title: Evening Sanitation Specialist

Department: Facility Management
Compensation: $15.74/Regular/Full-Time

Overview:
The Evening Sanitation Specialist is tasked with the upkeep and preservation of all facilities managed by the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. The cleanliness and overall appearance of a facility significantly reflect its occupants; therefore, it is essential for the Evening Sanitation Specialist to execute their duties with precision and care, ensuring that all areas are maintained to the highest standards while also deterring vandalism.

This role involves performing designated sanitation services to guarantee the hygiene and tidiness of the building, with a particular focus on restrooms, entryways, and windows throughout the premises.

Responsibilities also include minor maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing as necessary to repair or enhance facilities.

The position requires the operation of various hand tools, power tools, janitorial equipment, and grounds maintenance machinery to fulfill job responsibilities.

The work is primarily manual and routine in nature, performed consistently.

Key Responsibilities:


Assist in onboarding new staff by providing guidance on supply locations, cleaning areas, and appropriate cleaning agents.

Conduct maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, addressing minor leaks). Report significant damages to the Operations Supervisor.
Prepare spaces for the following day by removing trash, organizing furniture, and dusting surfaces.
Vacuum carpets and sweep and mop floors and stairways.
Clean all entrance doorways and glass, both inside and out, at the start of shifts. Weather permitting, clean all exterior windows, dust, and maintain windowsills and entrance doorways daily.

Sanitize each restroom to ensure proper disinfection and maintenance daily, restocking disposables (e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet paper); weekly tasks include using strong disinfectants and cleaning restroom drains, toilets, wash bowls, and urinals.

Clean mirrors, fixtures, restroom stalls, and doorways.

Utilize mild disinfectants Monday through Thursday, and stronger cleaners on Fridays; bi-weekly, employ special drain cleaners (degreasers). Clean all water fountains and elevator doors.

Maintain cleanliness of walls and all moldings throughout the building with a wet mop.

Oversee the cleanliness of the kitchen in the lounge area; daily tasks include cleaning countertops, sinks, and the exterior of the refrigerator and stove, with a thorough cleaning of the stove and refrigerator once a week.

When the facility is utilized after hours, ensure cleanup is conducted at the conclusion of meetings.
In the absence of a team member, collaborate with other shift members to ensure primary responsibilities are fulfilled.
Secure the facility after hours by locking doors, closing windows, and activating the alarm system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with standard materials, tools, and equipment necessary for minor maintenance and repairs.
Understanding of cleaning practices and procedures; proper use of equipment and chemicals, including mixing instructions.
Knowledge of safe disposal methods for chemical liquids and other hazardous materials.
Proficiency in the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
Ability to coordinate tasks with team members to maintain schedules.

Capability to work independently while collaborating effectively with co-workers to support the custodial team in fulfilling duties.

Ability to comprehend and execute oral and written instructions.
Self-motivated with the physical capability and strength to perform the required tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, along with relevant work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the required tasks.

A minimum of one to three years of work experience showcasing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the role.

Must be physically capable of performing demanding work activities in both indoor and outdoor environments, under various weather conditions year-round.

Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
Preference will be given to enrolled Yakama individuals, though all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
