Oversees the maintenance and repair operations of equipment related to various projects within the Landscape section of the Road, Bridge & Stormwater Maintenance Division.


Key Responsibilities:


Leads and supports a range of tasks associated with the upkeep of diverse horticultural installations; manages construction, operation, community park landscaping, and infrastructure maintenance.

Conducts thorough site inspections, evaluates installation plans and schedules for plant replacements, reviews fertilizer application timelines, and coordinates tree removals and staking; provides arborist services for tree and palm trimming, as well as seed pod removal; manages the installation of mulch for new plantings and responds to traffic incidents, including cleanup and site repair.

Assesses damage for Traffic Accident Reporting.

Supervises, guides, and evaluates team members, addressing employee concerns, directing tasks, providing counseling, and completing performance evaluations.

Coordinates daily operations for personnel engaged in equipment operation and maintenance tasks related to various projects within the assigned Department/Division; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors ongoing tasks and inspects completed work; collaborates with team members, assists with complex issues, and offers technical expertise.

Ensures compliance with established safety protocols; monitors the work environment and the use of safety equipment to guarantee the safety of employees and the public; initiates corrective actions as necessary; conducts safety meetings; implements Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans; and coordinates efforts to maintain safety and traffic control at work sites, including traffic flagging and setup of safety equipment.

Supervises, prioritizes, schedules, and coordinates various projects; initiates and responds to work orders for maintenance tasks; determines and organizes necessary equipment, materials, and workforce; prepares cost estimates; plans work activities to minimize equipment downtime; dispatches crew members and equipment as needed; monitors project progress and deadlines; inspects completed work; reports damage or hazardous situations to supervisors; and addresses emergencies.

Collaborates with other Departments, contractors, utility companies, and external agencies as required.

Conducts inspections of systems and equipment to identify issues and necessary repairs; reviews maintenance records and inspection reports to monitor work status.

Plans schedules for routine maintenance, preventive measures, and special projects.

Maintains an inventory of departmental supplies and materials; monitors stock levels to ensure availability of necessary equipment and materials; initiates requests for new or replacement items; and obtains competitive bids.

Performs administrative duties; provides input for budgeting and monitors expenditures; reviews invoices for accuracy; researches discrepancies; develops work schedules for adequate coverage; reviews timecards; and assists in developing procedures for departmental projects.

Oversees contracted service providers; inspects work to ensure quality and compliance with contract terms; reviews payment requests and recommends approvals.

Assists other sections with road and bridge construction and maintenance projects; conducts inspections of roadways, bridges, and sidewalks; oversees repairs and installations; manages vegetation control and cleaning of rights-of-way; and performs quality control inspections to ensure high standards.

Addresses complaints and inquiries related to division activities; investigates issues and formulates action plans to resolve them.

Coordinates responses to after-hours emergencies when on-call.

Operates various machinery and tools associated with departmental projects.
Performs necessary cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working order.

Additional Functions:
Maintains readiness for emergency response as an Essential Employee.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
Fingerprinting Required.

Licenses/Certificates:


Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements for operating a County vehicle.

FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) certification preferred.
