Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at UVA Health. As a key member of our Central Service department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently perform and participate in the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation, supplies, and equipment.
  • Order, receive, conduct cycle counts, pull cases for the Operating Room, stock supplies, instruments, and pans, restock clean cart supplies, expedite supplies to the OR, and stock OMNICELL cabinets with room stock.
  • Clean and decontaminate reusable equipment, instruments, and supplies, manually and mechanically.
  • Assemble and distribute surgical supplies, instruments, and medical equipment upon request or through case cart requisitions.
  • Operate the departmental bar code system to maintain records for surgical trays and instruments received, processed, and distributed.
  • Perform special projects and serve as a preceptor in primary work area/assignment.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of Sterile Processing experience required.
  • Certification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through HSPA or ORCSPDT (Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD.
Working Conditions

The job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). The work environment includes fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
