Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at dnata catering U.S. in JFK. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a crucial role in creating delicious and innovative meals for airline passengers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the highest quality meals are delivered on time.
  • Lead and train a team of culinary professionals, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a safe and sanitary working environment.
  • Assist with ordering of perishable food and non-food supplies, and control waste through proper calculation of ordering and production.
  • Responsible for all culinary operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Requirements
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a culinary field or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of all major kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Ability to properly operate ovens, stoves, grills, steamers, smoker, mixers, kettles, char-broiler, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to supervise and manage employees, including training, progressive discipline, and hiring.
Working Environment

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors, with a moderate noise level. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold temperatures.
