Job Description

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a Full-Time Peer Recovery Specialist II to join our team at the Hampton Roads Clinic. As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing empathetic and essential support services to guide individuals towards accessing necessary mental health and substance use disorder services, ensuring they receive the care and assistance needed for successful recovery.

Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and mental health conditions.
  • Assist individuals in accessing necessary mental health and substance use disorder services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and service providers.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Must have firsthand experience with a substance use condition and a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery.
  • Must be a Registered Peer Recovery Specialist with the VA Board of Counseling (RPRS) and have completed the required DBHDS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training.
  • Must have at least one year of relevant experience in the field.
