Job Summary

The City of Birmingham, Michigan is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a uniformed patrol officer, you will be responsible for providing law enforcement services to the community, promoting safety and security, and upholding the Department's mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and ordinances, protect constitutional rights, and maintain a positive working relationship with other units of the Police Department and municipal departments.
  • Investigate criminal and civil cases, prepare reports, and maintain departmental equipment in good condition.
  • Respond to calls for service efficiently and safely, and participate in community policing projects as assigned.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions, roll call, and inspect and equip the patrol vehicle at the start of each shift.
Requirements
  • Possession of an Associate Degree in Police Administration, Law Enforcement, Police Science, or related field of study; or a B.A. or B.S. in any course of study from a recognized college or university.
  • Successful completion of the MCOLES pre-employment written and physical skills test with current valid results.
  • Physical condition appropriate for the position with vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.
  • Residency within the State of Michigan.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan Operator's License with a good driving record.
  • No record of criminal conviction.
