About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our National Security Sector, you will be responsible for designing, cost estimating, scheduling, engineering, coordination, contracting, installation oversight, inspection, and acceptance of mechanical systems/services.

This includes HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boiler, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems associated with customer facilities and critical infrastructure.

Your ability to work collaboratively with a team of people from across multiple organizations and the company will be crucial for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boiler, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems design for terminal facilities (Air Traffic Control Tower, Terminal Radar Approach Control facilities, etc.).
  • Conduct on-site surveys to develop 'to-scale' designs and detailed reports.
  • Generate sketches/drawings showing relation of proposed installation in existing or new facilities with exact specifications and dimensions.
  • Participate in construction inspections and final inspections.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve problems with the design or implementation.
  • Coordinate design components with a multi-disciplinary team as required for site-specific modifications and new construction.
  • Prepare AutoCAD construction drawings and prepare site-specific specifications and contract documents and independent cost estimates.
  • Manage project-related tasks and communication (including safety plans, sequence of work, cutover plans).
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations regarding the closure of construction-related punch-list items.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 12 plus years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10 plus years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in good standing in the United States.
  • At least eight years of experience with mechanical systems design including HVAC and plumbing systems with commercial, industrial, and/or government facilities.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of building and energy codes in order to perform heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork sizing and layout, piping calculations and distribution, sections/elevations, and equipment sizing and selection.
  • Proficiency with AUTOCAD.
  • Effective communication skills in written and verbal form, both in person and virtually.
  • Able to work independently in a large engineering organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SCADA Systems familiarity.
  • PMP Certification.

Estimated Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $126,100.00 - $227,950.00 per year.
