Position Overview


The Aircraft Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing the ongoing aircraft maintenance operations within their designated area, as directed by the Line Program Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring airworthiness upon the completion of assigned tasks as required by clients.

The Team Leader will effectively plan and organize departmental workloads while supervising crew activities to optimize the utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials, thereby ensuring project profitability as outlined by senior management in Maintenance and Production Control.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and guide technicians in executing aircraft maintenance tasks, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce labor hours and errors. Regularly assess work performance.

Guarantee that all assigned aircraft maintenance tasks are executed correctly and documented clearly.

Oversee and manage project materials and labor costs, particularly concerning overtime, in accordance with established plans, budgets, and schedules.

Ensure the proper and safe use of tools and equipment necessary for completing assigned duties efficiently.

Act as a liaison with other departments to facilitate effective coordination of support activities and ensure the availability of necessary information.

Ensure accurate documentation of work progress on both routine and non-routine paperwork, including stamps, signatures, and references as per the company's ERP system.

Maintain and oversee the management of aircraft visibility work boards and/or work booths that indicate remaining and ongoing work, as appropriate.

Review estimates for all non-routine maintenance tasks and communicate any significant defects or findings to the Line Manager.

Secure customer hours/financial approval on original and revised estimates through the established system.

Input turnovers into the ERP system and ensure that all necessary communications are logged as directed.

Initiate and recommend approval for personnel actions, including PTO, pay adjustments, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, and leaves of absence.

Conduct interviews, select, and/or recommend candidates for hire; provide necessary training for departmental staff.

Document, report, and investigate all incidents in accordance with safety management system policies and procedures.

Conduct verbal coaching sessions to enhance employee performance in line with company expectations.

Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures across all departmental functions.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology or a related field; or equivalent experience providing knowledge of relevant business, industry, and technical principles, procedures, and management techniques

FAA A&P license in good standing is required

Previous Experience


A minimum of three years of relevant experience, including at least two years in a leadership role, demonstrating knowledge of tier one customer aircraft maintenance programs. Integrated technical and operations management experience is essential.
