Job Summary
California State University, Northridge is seeking a highly qualified tenure-track faculty member in Biochemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach biochemistry and related special topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as introductory and general chemistry at the undergraduate level. This individual's research expertise will diversify the Biochemistry research areas currently represented in the Department.

Responsibilities
The position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements for recommending tenure and promotion.

Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent in Biochemistry or a closely related field from an accredited institution
Clear potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate/graduate courses
Evidence of, or clear potential for, mentoring diverse undergraduate/graduate students
High-caliber research experience that will diversify the Biochemistry research areas
Well thought-out plan of independent research activity feasible for success at CSUN, including strategies for generating and publishing data in top-tier journals, recruiting students, and obtaining extramural funding.

Preferred Qualifications
Clear potential for effective, culturally-responsive engagement with a diverse student body in teaching and mentorship
Postdoctoral research or industrial research experience
Record of recent primary research publications in mainstream, peer-reviewed journals
Publication rate as first or corresponding author in mainstream, peer-reviewed journals that is commensurate with experience
Contributions to grant proposal writing.
