Job Summary

Assist residents with daily living activities to promote independence and dignity, working alongside certified nurses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow resident assignment schedules and communicate effectively with charge nurses and unit managers.
  • Provide physical assistance, such as walking and pushing wheelchairs, and perform personal care tasks like combing hair and nail care.
  • Respond to call lights, determine the nature of requests, and complete non-direct care tasks.
  • Use tactful communication in sensitive situations, observe residents, and report unusual or abnormal behavior to charge nurses.
  • Ensure resident safety and well-being, following safety guidelines and utilizing equipment properly.
  • Participate in emergency drills and in-service training, and assist in evacuations.
  • Follow Universal Safety Precautions to protect oneself, residents, and staff members.
  • Rinse soiled linens and use protective clothing and equipment as needed.
  • Perform clerical functions, maintain regular attendance, and promote positive public relations.
  • Understand and adhere to 'Residents Rights' guidelines and ensure resident safety.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Good standing on the Nursing Assistant Registry in Texas and the Nurse Aide Misconduct Registry
  • Ability to understand, remember, and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to clearly communicate with residents
  • Ability to complete assignments with constant interruptions
  • CPR certification (preferred)
