Key Responsibilities:
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, your primary duties will include:
  • Diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.
  • Conducting annual/systematic inspections as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with Federal FHWA standards.
  • Operating yard hostler trucks to maneuver trailers within the facility.
  • Ordering and receiving necessary parts and supplies.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and equipment longevity.
  • Utilizing welding equipment as needed.
  • Performing miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of trailers and medium-duty trucks.
  • Proven knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, particularly regarding diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT regulations, and company policies.
  • Ability to utilize vehicle diagnostic software.
  • DOT HM-183 certification, training, or relevant experience.
  • ASE Certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) is required.
