Housekeeping Aide Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Aide to join our Environmental Services team at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England.

Job Summary:

The Housekeeping Aide will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of assigned Hospital areas, including patient rooms, offices, and common areas. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, offices, and common areas, including furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Restock supplies of soap, tissues, towels, and other disposable items.
  • Sweep and mop floors, including patient rooms and Hospital offices.
  • Vacuum carpets using light vacuum, spot clean carpets using appropriate solutions, and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly manner.
  • Clean and perform routine maintenance on sanitation equipment and notify supervisor of equipment needing further repair.
  • Visually inspect area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness have been achieved.
  • Return unused supplies to utility room, clean carts and equipment, and ensure items are stored in an orderly manner.
Working Conditions:

This role requires working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, or muscle pulls.

Requirements:
  • Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions and six to twelve months of previous work-related experience plus three months or less of on-the-job training and orientation.
  • No certification, registration, or licensure required.
  • Work requires the analytical ability to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters.
  • Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions.
