Job Title: Property Accountant

At Virtual, we are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records related to property management, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and maintain financial statements for multiple properties, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Management: Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely billing and collections.
  • Reconciliation and Analysis: Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers. Analyze property financial performance and prepare variance reports for management.
  • Budget Preparation and Monitoring: Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, providing insights on variances and financial forecasts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with property managers and other stakeholders to resolve accounting discrepancies and provide financial insights.
  • Year-End Audit Support: Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance.
  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi) and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in property management.
Preferred Skills:
  • CPA Designation: CPA designation or working towards certification is a plus.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Experience with budgeting and forecasting in a property management context.
  • Commercial and Residential Property Accounting: Familiarity with commercial and residential property accounting practices.
